CLOTHING RECOMMENDATIONS:

Newborns and Babies

For newborns and babies who cannot yet walk our session will take place inside my studio.  For baby, I recommend naked with a diaper cover.  For mom and dad i recommend long sleeve black shirts and blue jeans or dark pants.  My goals is to capture the baby’s innocence and the love connection between mom, dad and baby and it is important to keep clothing as understated as possible.  I somtimes photograph hands and feet to emphasize how tiny baby is compared to mom and dad.   That being said,  please make sure they look good!!  I would recommend bringing a change of clothes for all  just in case baby has an accident!  For ideas, go to www.margaretboyd.net and click on “galleries”, “babies”.

Toddlers and Children

Toddlers and children get to go outside my studio and play!  This is the best way to get them to open up and have fun which allows me to capture spirit.  Since there is already a lot of color in nature, (green grass, blue sky, red brick wall…) i recommend clothing be simple.  Blue jeans and a solid color shirt is best.  Some of my favorite shirt colors are navy, dark green, chocolate brown.  I encourage you to bring along any fun hats and colorful sweaters/scarfs to add color.  The majority of the photos will be in simple clothing but we will add fun color here and there.   For ideas, go to www.margaretboyd.net and click on “galleries”, “children”.

Families

Keep it simple and uniform!  Again, with large groups, there is already so much to look at that it is important to keep clothing as simple as possible.  Blue jean and kakhis for pants and a solid color shirt look best.

Sessions are typically scheduled at the following stages:

Pregnancy – month 7-8 (when mom feels and looks best)
Newborn – 3 months
6-9 months
12 – 18 months

This is a discounted package from our regular pricing… you get 2 sessions free!  Typically, these sessions book weeks in advance so please call/email the studio to check availability.

Siblings and parents may be included in all sessions.
